President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov has held a meeting with the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, which arrived in the Republic as international observers for the presidential elections in South Ossetia, the press service of the head of state reports.
The Syrian delegation is headed by the head of the Syrian-South Ossetian parliamentary friendship committee, Youssef Al-Salama.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev and Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic Vladimir Kelekhsaev.
The President thanked the guests for their visit and the attention they render to the South Ossetian state.
“Tomorrow a serious political event will take place in our Republic. You have come to represent the Syrian Arab Republic as observers. I am sure that everything will be held within the framework of the law, and you will become the witnesses to this,” he said.
Anatoly Bibilov also stressed the importance of the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia by the Syrian Arab Republic.
“We are immensely grateful to the leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic for such an important step. Certain goals will be jointly achieved for the further development of our relations in all areas, and the hospitality of our people and the beauty of nature will not leave you indifferent to our country,” he said.
In turn, Youssef Al-Salama thanked the President for the warm welcome, noting that the peoples of Syria and South Ossetia are similar in their principles, desire for freedom and the right to live and develop in an independent republic.
“We are very pleased to be with you at such an important time for you. You have a very beautiful state, an amazing landscape and wonderful people, who are distinguished by loyalty and love for their land. I am sure that people will make the right choice, and we, in turn, will be observing and drawing the right conclusions. We wish South Ossetia peace, well-being and prosperity,” he said.
The meeting participants expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation and joint socio-economic development.
