The incumbent President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, thanked all the residents of South Ossetia for their activity during the elections on Sunday.

"Such a high turnout indicates the citizens' trust in the democratic procedure - in the elections. As a President and a citizen, I want to thank the people who did their duty and voted. As a presidential candidate, I am grateful for the support of the supporters who voted for me," Bibilov has written on his page in the Telegram channel after the announcement of the preliminary results of voting in the presidential elections on Sunday, in which he won 33.4% of the vote.

"Dear friends, judging by the processed ballots, we already understand that there will be a second round of presidential elections. My opponents agree with this, and this indisputably proves that we have done everything within the law. You all saw that the elections are being held in full accordance with the laws that are in force on the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia. There are no such comments that would affect the outcome of the elections. I see that my opponents agree with this as well. As a presidential candidate, I am pleased to go to the second round with Alan Eduardovich Gagloity. Therefore, that two ideologies are entering the second round. I think you all understand what ideologies we are talking about. And here is the choice of the people," Bibilov said.

He addressed the voters with the words, "the fight is not over."

"I want to say to my supporters: we need to mobilize and fight to the end. We are together, we are moving forward and we are moving towards victory. To victory for the sake of people's well-being, victory for the sake of holding a referendum on joining the Russian Federation. Everything will depend on the second round. I wish our Republic and our people prosperity and success. The most important thing is that the law is in force in the Republic and that we all respect and observe the letter of the law," Anatoly Bibilov wrote.
