President Alan Gagloev met with a delegation of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania headed by Parliament Speaker Alexei Machnev, who arrived in Tskhinval to take part in the commemorative events dedicated to the 14th anniversary of the August 2008 war.
For the South Ossetian part, the meeting was also attended by the head of the Pesidential Alan Executive Office Alan Dzhioev, Speaker of the Parliament Alan Tadtaev and the first Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Peter Gassiev.
For the North Ossetian part - Deputy Speakers of the Parliament Batraz Bilaonov and Aslanbek Gutnov, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Housing and Public Utilities and Construction Policy Alan Gagloev, Deputy Head of the Parliament Staff Tamazi Doguzov.
The head of state has noted that on these memorable days, the support of the North Ossetian brothers is especially valuable.
“You share joyful moments with us and are always here in the most difficult times. We are grateful to you that today, in these days of mourning, you are with us. We have no right to forget the tragic days of 2008," Alan Gagloev said.
For his part, Alexei Machnev has stressed that today is memorable not only for the inhabitants of South Ossetia, but for the entire Russian Federation.
“You need to know history, you need to remember it, but you need to look to the future, draw conclusions, develop society and build a peaceful life. I think that the most powerful state of our time - the Russian Federation - is the guarantor that the Republic of South Ossetia will be developing and create. And God forbid that there will never be a war,” he said.
The participants of the meeting also noted the close inter-parliamentary cooperation and the fruitful development of interdepartmental cooperation.
