President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has met with Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Volvach, who arrived in Tskhinval on a working visit, the press service of the President has reported.
Welcoming the guest, the head of state has noted that South Ossetia is always happy to cooperate with the strategic partner - the Russian Federation.
Dmitry Volvach thanked Alan Gagloev for the warm welcome.
“With the support of the Russian Federation, South Ossetia is moving towards sustainable economic growth: 20% in the first half of the year. This is a good result, given that the mutual trade has grown almost as much,” he said.
The Russian official called it important to create conditions for investments in the Republic.
"In order for the import and export to be easier and more efficient, harmonization in the field of customs is needed," Dmitry Volvach said, having reminded that the interstate agreement was recently signed to facilitate the implementation of the State Program for Socio- Economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2022 -2025.
“As soon as the regulatory and legal framework is formed, we will start forming a new package of investment projects where Russian assistance could be applied,” he has stressed.
According to Dmitry Volvach, in addition to the increase in wages provided for by the program, it is also planned to develop infrastructure that will make the Republic more attractive to investors, thereby ensuring the growth of the economy of South Ossetia.
He has also announced an agreement with major Russian banks that are ready to cooperate with investors.
“We are not only economic, but also strategic partners, so it is important for us that the economy of South Ossetia develops, increasing its own income. We are ready to help not only with investments, but also to share the best practices that were in Russia,” said Dmitry Volvach.
For his part, the President has noted that cooperation with the Russian Federation has the best effect on the life of the population of the Republic.
“At the recent meeting with Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov, the Program for the Socio- Economic Development of South Ossetia for 2022-2025 was discussed. Today I would like to discuss some points of the Program that need to be finalized. I count on your assistance,” said Alan Gagloev.
He has also stressed that the Republic is closely following the progress of the special military operation in the Donbas and that, despite the difficult situation, South Ossetia is always close to both the Russian Federation and the Donbas republics.
“This is our common responsibility and our common future. We are obliged to suppress the manifestations of fascism on the part of Ukraine together,” the head of state said.
The meeting was then held behind closed doors.
