President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has received a delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia headed by Minister of Justice Anri Bartsits, who arrived in Tskhinval to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, the press service of the head of state reports.
Greeting the guests, the President has noted that the history of South Ossetia and Abkhazia is riddled with tragic events, but the peoples managed to defend their right to live in their native land.
“Freedom and independence came to us, unfortunately, at the cost of numerous losses. But on the way to freedom, we have always lent each other a brotherly shoulder. And today, living in peace, we have the opportunity to celebrate significant dates, and I am grateful that you share this holiday with us,” said Alan Gagloev.
The President also noted that today's signing of the interdepartmental cooperation agreement between the ministries of justice of South Ossetia and Abkhazia will expand further cooperation.
For his part, Anri Bartsits expressed gratitude for the invitation and congratulated Alan Gagloev and the people of South Ossetia on the holiday.
“The constitutional and legal status of South Ossetia was established on the basis of the free will of the historical struggle of the Ossetian people to be themselves. The result of this struggle is obvious. It is a pleasure for me to visit the sovereign democratic land of the Ossetians,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, Alan Gagloev and Anri Bartsits noted the invaluable contribution of the Russian Federation to the sustainable development of the two republics.
