The information of one of the Telegram channels that allegedly “representatives of the Russian 4th military base are making door-to-door visits and handing subpoenas to the residents of Tskhinval to send them to Ukraine” is not true, the press service of the South Ossetian Defense Ministry reports.

“The 4th military base is located in South Ossetia on the basis of the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on a joint military base on the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia dated April 7, 2010 (an agreement in the public domain) and its powers do not include making door-to-door rounds and serving summonses to citizens of another state . Within the framework of the current regulatory legal framework between the defense departments, the issue of issuing subpoenas, conscripting citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia to serve in the Russian army, etc. by the forces of the Russian military base was not recorded," the Ministry said in the statement.

The Ministry of Defense noted that "this kind of provocative information stuffing is aimed at artificially whipping up tension in the Republic and undermining confidence in the Russian-South Ossetian relations, including in the field of security."

"As it is known, partial mobilization has been announced in the Russian Federation since September 21, but it has not affected South Ossetia. In addition, no mobilization events and mobilization in general are planned in South Ossetia," the press service has stressed.
