Parliamentarians of South Ossetia met with the Russian delegation that had arrived in the Republic on a working visit, the press service of the legislative body reports.
Speaker of the Parliament Alan Alborov, welcoming the guests, stressed the importance of the meeting within the walls of the Parliament.
“Dear colleagues, I am glad to welcome you to the Parliament of South Ossetia and I want to thank you for your assistance and constant attention to the Republic in all areas.
Speaking about parliamentary cooperation, I would like to note the interaction with the State Duma, the interaction of the Parliament with the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, and we are grateful for your attention to every problem, including the decisions taken jointly with the government of South Ossetia on raising salaries for security officials. A lot of work has been done, the workers in these structures were waiting for these salaries.
As for the socio-economic program that has been developed and is being implemented today, we know that the process is not easy, but we hope that we will succeed with joint efforts,” Alan Alborov said.
Igor Maslov, Head of the Russian President's Department for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, noted in his response speech that both the executive and legislative branches of government should always work together.
“Thank you Alan Yurievich for your kind words. I am very glad to be here today, it is already becoming a kind of tradition when, during our visits to South Ossetia, we meet not only with representatives of the executive branch, but also with representatives of the leadership of the Parliament. From the very beginning, we have indicated that both branches of government should always work in the same bundle.
There may be disputes, but we must not forget that you are elected by the people and must work in the interests of the people of South Ossetia. You know, there is such a saying: “If you criticize - offer, you offer - do, you do - answer!”, Therefore, here we just proceed from the fact that appropriate solutions, compromise and constructive, can be found for all problems,” Maslov said.
According to him, it is very important for the Russian side that the Republic develops in all respects, that some legacy of the crises of the war eventually fades into the past, that the economy grows and the social security of people increases.
“It is important that young people do not leave the Republic, but stay, find work and good conditions for their families here,” said Maslov.
He also added that he was grateful for the position of the Parliament of South Ossetia on the recent events in Russia.
“The fact that the leadership of the Republic and, in particular, the Parliament, have taken a principled position, we regard this as an allied position of our friends. We are also grateful for the understanding on a rather acute topic - this is the relationship with your neighbors. Here we must clearly realize that there are many enemies who would like to blow up the situation and open a second front. We understand that everything inside Georgia is also ambiguous, and we support the government that has chosen a constructive line of behavior in every possible way.
You are aware that President of Russia has decided to resume air traffic, that is, we also respond kindly to countries and governments that are set up for equal and interested interaction. But the situation is unstable, there are also many nationalist-minded people, and therefore it is very important to prevent any coups and nationalists from coming to power there. It is very important that you look at these issues globally,” he said.
Ambassador of the Russian Federation to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, on behalf of the leadership of the State Duma, expressed gratitude to the Parliament of South Ossetia for its position on recent events in Russia.
“I have thee instruction from the leaders of the State Duma of Russia and the Federation Council to express gratitude to the Parliament of South Ossetia for the position of the legislative body on the events that took place last week. Indeed, the position is allied and we believe that interaction along the parliamentary line will grow stronger, and these words expressed are confirmation of this,” the Ambassador said.
Alan Alborov added that the position of the Parliament of South Ossetia could only be like this.
“Under any circumstances, we must always support our friend and strategic ally - Russia. In fact, we are always there in any situation, even in the most critical one,” the Speaker has concluded.
Alexander Mishenkov, Deputy Head of the Department for Regional Development Programs, also took part in the meeting for the Russian part.
