President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev held a meeting with the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Benelux countries Radion Pukhaev, the press service of the head of state reports.

The President thanked the diplomat for the work he has been doing in Europe.

“You have been doing necessary and valuable work to promote and popularize Ossetian culture in the European countries. It is very important to acquaint a wide audience with the original culture and history of our people,” said Alan Gagloev.

Radion Pukhaev told the President about the work done, as well as the plans to hold the Days of Ossetian Culture in the BRICS countries.

"For 12 years I have been organizing the Days of Ossetian Culture in Europe. I was elected the Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots in Europe.

We have been working on maintaining relations between Ossetians, living in Europe so as not to lose touch. We try to educate our children in the spirit of Ossetian traditions, instilling in them the principles of spiritual and moral values that Ossetia is rich in," he said.

Alan Gagloev asked if our compatriots were experiencing any difficulties, given the difficult geopolitical situation.

“Of course, we had to face some problems after the start of the special military operation, both in terms of organizing events and at the household level. In Europe, too, not everyone is Russophobic, there are citizens there who are waiting for Vladimir Putin to literally save them. The sanctions first affected their citizens, greatly weakened their economy,” the diplomat has stressed.

As for the promotion of Ossetian culture, Radion Pukhaev has noted that in his work he tries to establish contacts between the creative intelligentsia of Ossetia and colleagues from Europe.

"It is worth admitting that Ossetian artists arouse great admiration among Europeans. Our art school is in no way inferior to the European one. In the future, we want to hold Days of Ossetian Culture in India and Brazil, which is a little more difficult than in Europe. We are planning to visit other BRICS countries a little later," he said.

At the end of the meeting, Radion Pukhaev presented the President with an album with the works by the well-known Ossetian artists.
