South Ossetia has never changed its historical choice and is ready to develop integration with Russia up to joining the Russian Federation. This was stated by President of the Republic Alan Gagloev at the joint meeting with President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhaniya in Gorki with Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
According to the Presidential Executive Office, the meeting was held on the eve of the 15th anniversary of Russia's recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the decrees on which were signed on August 26, 2008 by Medvedev, who was the-then President of the Russian Federation.
As noted by Gagloev, Ossetia voluntarily became part of the Russian Empire in 1774 "and since then has never changed its historical choice."
"I want to assure you, dear Dmitry Anatolyevich, that even today we are ready to develop integration processes with the Russian Federation up to joining the Russian Federation," Gagloev has emphasized.
The South Ossetian leader invited Medvedev to visit the country at any time.
