On Tuesday, South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev presented the state awards to the representatives of various fields of activity in honor of the 33rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.
The head of state congratulated those present on significant dates - National Flag Day and Republic Day, which became the important milestone in the history of the struggle of the people of South Ossetia for freedom and independence.
“33 years have passed when deputies of the first convocation made a decision to proclaim the Republic of South Ossetia. September 20 is a fateful date in the history of the Ossetian people,” Gagloev has noted.
Alan Gagloev has emphasized that the Ossetian fighters, who are today on the front line, protecting civilians in the Donbass, are proudly raising the Ossetian tricolor, as their fathers and grandfathers were doing, defending the independence of their Republic.
Among the awarded are people who have been working for the benefit of the Republic of South Ossetia for many years – the employees of the Tskhinval bakery, law enforcement agencies, the Finance Ministry, the Youth Committee, the media, etc.
From the hands of the head of state, the distinguished employees of various professions were awarded orders and medals, honorary titles “Honored Economist”, “Honored Worker of Industry”, “Honored Trainer”, “Honored Journalist”, certificates of honor were also awarded..
Minister of Internal Affairs, Alan Guchmazov, was awarded the rank of Lieutenant General by the Presidential decree. Defense Minister Marat Pavlov was awarded the title of Major General.
September 20 marks the 33rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of South Ossetia. On this day in 1990, the Council of People's Deputies made decision to upgrade the status of the autonomous region to the South Ossetian Soviet Democratic Republic within the Soviet Union. This decision was one of the first steps towards independence and international recognition of the Republic.
