On Monday, a border patrol found two violators of the state border in a car in a state of intoxication on the border of the South Ossetian territory in the vicinity of the locality of Amdzarin, Leningor district of South Ossetia, the press service of the KGB of the RSO reports.
“During the attempt to detain them, they resisted, fraught with a threat to the life and health of the border guards. In this case, the violators used an axe. Later, they attempted to hit a border patrol by the car and then leave for Georgia," the statement of the press service reads.
In order to suppress these illegal actions and prevent illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia, the border guards fired a warning shot into the air, and after further disobedience of the violators to legal requirements, they opened fire on the wheels of their vehicle.
“As a result, one of the violators was seriously injured and was transferred to Georgia for emergency medical care, and the second one was detained. The competent authorities of the Republic of South Ossetia are conducting an investigation into the incident,” the department has emphasized.
The State Security Committee has noted that despite previously reached agreements to prevent violations of the state border of South Ossetia, representatives of the Georgian side continue provocative actions that contribute to the aggravation of the situation on the interstate separation line.
