A resident of Georgia, detained last year for violating the state border of South Ossetia, was handed over to the Georgian side after serving his sentence, the KGB press service reports.
“On July 3, 2023, for illegally crossing the state border of South Ossetia, the Georgian citizen Khetereli Lasha Aleksandrovich, born in 1998, a resident of the village of Shaumyan, Marneuli Municipality, was found guilty by the Tskhinval District Court on September 7, 2023, of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal crossing of the State Border” with a sentence of imprisonment,” the press service said.
The KGB has added that on September 13, due to the expiration of the sentence, the offender was released and handed over to the Georgian side in accordance with the established procedure.
