A delegation of Parliament of South Ossetia headed by Speaker Alan Margiev took part in the International Forum "Great Heritage - Common Future" in Volgograd, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory. This was reported by the press service of Parliament of the Republic.

Speaking at the plenary session, Alan Margiev has emphasized that the Battle of Stalingrad is a symbol of courage of the city's residents and the Soviet soldiers.

He noted the importance of preserving the historical truth about the feat of the Soviet people, especially in the context of attempts to rewrite the history.

Alan Margiev has reminded that only the "Pavlov's house in Stalingrad was standing longer than the countries of Europe."

Margiev noted the participation of representatives of the CIS countries and other states the ancestors of whom were fighting shoulder to shoulder against fascism.

Speaker of the Parliament spoke about South Ossetia's contribution to the Victory, mentioning the heroes Issa Pliev and Vasily Chochiev, and noted that the descendants of these heroes were fighting in the special military operation zone today.

He expressed confidence in the inviolability of spiritual unity and called for joint efforts to preserve historical memory for the sake of a peaceful future.

The South Ossetian delegation honored the memory of the defenders of Stalingrad on Mamaev Kurgan, laying flowers and a wreath at the Eternal Flame.

The parliamentarians also took part in the ceremony of lighting the Eternal Flame on the Alley of Heroes.
