Scholars from South Ossetia participated in the International Forum of Historians and Caucasus Studies

Тhe staff from the South Ossetian Research Institute participated in the 12th International Forum of Historians and Caucasus Studies: "The Peoples of the Caucasus in the 18th-21st Centuries: History, Politics, Culture."

The event, held in Abkhazia, was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 80th birthday of the first president of Abkhazia, Academician Vladislav Ardzinba, the Research Institute's press service reported.

"Madina Gassieva, a senior researcher in the Modern and Contemporary History Department and a PhD in Philosophy, presented the article entitled "Problems of Preserving Cultural Heritage (Based on the Republic of South Ossetia)," which notes the growing interest in the preservation of historical heritage and addresses the challenges associated with the professional restoration of monuments," the press service reported.

Soslan Pliev, a PhD in Politics and a senior researcher in the Modern and Contemporary History Department at the South Ossetian Research Institute, presented a paper entitled "Historical and Political Analysis of the Problem of Harmonizing the Principles of Territorial Integrity and National Self-Determination in International Relations."

A collection of papers was published following the Forum.
