The main obstacle to the negotiation process within the Geneva Discussions on the humanitarian track remains Georgia's annual highly politicized the UN General Assembly resolution on internally displaced persons and refugees, which ignores geopolitical realities. This was stated in the statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry following the 65th round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia.
The Ministry has noted that discussing this issue in violation of the existing agreements at the venues other than the International Discussions, i.e., without the participation of representatives from Sukhum and Tskhinval, makes it impossible to consider it within the International Discussions format.
Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry has noted, given Switzerland's loss of its declared neutral status due to its adherence to the EU's illegal anti-Russian sanctions, Moscow, with the support of Sukhum and Tskhinval, believes it is necessary to move the International Discussions meetings from Geneva to another location that is truly neutral and acceptable to all the participants
The next round of discussions will take place in March next year.
