The draft program of socio-economic development of the Republic of South Ossetia up to 2017 was adopted at the meeting of the Government of the Republic, held the day before, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Rostislav Khugaev. The meeting was also attended by members of the RSO Parliament.
On Friday and Saturday (May 17-18) the Co-Chairs of the Geneva international discussions on security in Transcaucasia will arrive in the Republic of South Ossetia.
A solemn ceremony of laying the Garland of Glory at the memorial "The Eternal Flame" has been held in Tskhinval on the eve of the Victory Day. The ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, Chairman of the South Ossetian Parliament Stanislav Kochiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev, Russian diplomats, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, members of the government of the Republic, leaders of the FSS Border Control Agency of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia and the 4-th Russian military base, pupils, public representatives.
Life –sentence South Ossetian prisoners in Georgia, participated in the hunger strike in the Gldani prison № 8 in Tbilisi on April15 – 25, have been visited by their relatives. As the news agency "Res" was informed by Lyudmila Usovich, a mother of one of the prisoners - Georgy Zasseev, the meeting had been organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross on April 30.
Members of the South Ossetian part of the Intergovernmental Committee on socio-economic cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia at today's meeting in Tskhinval have discussed with the Russian colleagues questions of sectoral development programs to be approved, which will be included in the investment program to promote socio-economic development of South Ossetia.
During the meetings of participants of Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI) the South Ossetian delegation has repeatedly emphasized the need to release from the Georgian prisons all citizens of South Ossetia languishing in Georgian prisons, including three citizens of South Ossetia - Georgy Zasseev, Joseph Kochiev and Georgy Valiev, sentenced to life imprisonment. This was said by the RSO Deputy Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Khokh Gagloyty at the briefing in Tskhinval. He has noted that the South Ossetian authorities are concerned about the fate and health of these citizens who have joined the indefinite hunger strike April 15, in Gldani prison in Tbilisi (Georgia).
"Formerly, a lot of villagers along the both sides of the South Ossetian-Georgian border irrigated their land lots by Tiriponsky canal. Water was coming there from the water intake located in Tskhinval, and then was passing through the territory of Georgia, but for some reason was not reaching Tsinagar area of South Ossetia, "- said Gagloyty.
A meeting of the of Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incident(MPRI) has started in the Georgian village of Ergneti at the border with South Ossetia .
At the beginning of the meeting the attendees were welcomed by the head of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia Andrzej Tyszkiewicz and the OSCE co-chair Andriy Deschitsa.
Deschitsa has said that at the last round of the Geneva talks, held at the end of March, was noted the efficiency of the MPRI meetings.
In South Ossetia, everybody has no doubt that Mikhail Saakashvili will abandon his positions adopted in August 2008. This was stated by the Vice-Speaker of the RSO Mira Tskhovrebova commenting on the statement of the President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili that he did not intend to cooperate with the investigators to study the actions of the Georgian authorities during the war in August 2008.
Funding for the development of design estimates of the facilities that are expected to be included into the Investment program of South Ossetia in 2013 was discussed at a meeting of the Government of the Republic under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Rostik Khugaev.
The first part of the meeting was attended by President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov, who instructed members of the government to compile a list of facilities, construction and reconstruction of which were expected to be approved at the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on socio-economic cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia.
