July 14 is the 28th anniversary of a significant event in the history of the Ossetian people – the introduction of a Mixed peacekeeping force in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict on July 14, 1992. We should recall the international political environment in which the decision to deploy a peacekeeping force was made, as well as the actual deployment and start of operation.

This year, South Ossetia is celebrating the 28th anniversary of independence. On March 18, 1991, near the village of Ered, with the support of "civilians", Georgian informals put off 25 Ossetians from the Ural military vehicle belonging to the Internal Troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On October 28, a 70-year-old Margo Martiashvili was urgently delivered to Tskhinval, to the republican hospital, from the Leningor district with a diagnosis of stroke. Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the doctors, it was not possible to save the woman. To the relatives and friends of the late compatriot we express our condolences.

In early September, a round table was held at South Ossetian State University, the main theme of which was the issue of Georgia’s loss of national independence and the transformation of Tbilisi into an instrument of the US foreign policy.

According to the majority of the participants, the White House simply uses Georgia to achieve its geopolitical goals in the Caucasus.

The other day, the State Security Committee issued a statement on intensifying the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia in certain sections of the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia with Georgia.

Georgia has long been among the top newsmakers in the global media space. A special place in this news flow occupy messages relating to the military sphere. Until now, the media and the Internet have been vigorously discussing investigations into abuses by officials of the Saakashvili era, the public is learning about new details of dubious arms purchase deals for the Georgian army.

At the end of May, the US Congress adopted an act to support the European integration initiatives of the Georgian government. The content of the document assumes the assistance of Tbilisi on the issues of conducting legitimate elections, strengthening defense capabilities and cyber security, as well as countering the “Russian occupation”. According to the congressmen, the adopted act clearly demonstrates Washington’s interest in developing and maintaining democratic values ​​in the Transcaucasian republic.

The Georgian political elite continues to actively promote the myth of "Russian aggression", calling on the world community to increase pressure on Moscow. So, Tbilisi intends to force Russia to refuse to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

The revanchist sentiments of the Georgian establishment are fueled by the support of the western political community and the active assistance of NATO in creating the Republic’s military infrastructure.

Tbilisi’s desire to attract Washington’s resources to solve problems with Moscow has borne fruit.
