Geneva Discussions Co-Chairs To Visit South Ossetia

On 8 December, the delegation of Co-Chairs of the Geneva Discussions on security in the Caucasus is visiting South Ossetia, reports the Office of the Special Representative for Post-Conflict Settlement. The delegation includes the OSCE Co-Chairman Bolat Nurgaliev, EU Envoy Ambassador Pierre Morel, UN Co-Chair Antti Turunen, representative of the OSCE Secretariat Rasa Ostrauskaite, European Commission Senior Political Advisor Thierry Bechet, representative of the UNHCR Gulliermo Bettucci, and Giedrius Chekuolis, the OSCE 2011 Chairman-in-Office.

Eduard Kokoity: South Ossetia Will Not Use Force Against Georgia

Statement by the President of the Republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity

In his recent speech in the European Parliament, the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said that he refused to use force to "restore the territorial integrity" of his country, and would not attack either the Russian "occupant" or their "puppets". If this statement is translated into common language, it would mean that Saakashvili promises not to use force against South Ossetia.
