General Prosecutor's Offices of South Ossetia and Russia signed a joint action program
At the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation was held a meeting of Prosecutors General of South Ossetia and Russia Merab Chigoev and Yuri Chaika.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation and South Ossetia. Prosecutor General of the Republic of South Ossetia was accompanied by First Deputy Prosecutor General of the RSO Sergei Bitiev and the head of the Department for International Legal Cooperation V. Valiev.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation Dmitry Medoev.
Welcoming the guests, Yuri Chaika has noted that Russia and South Ossetia have friendly relationship, he has underlined historic importance of the recognition of independence of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation, noting that the foundation for the bilateral relations was laid on September 17, 2008 by signing the Agreement on friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Yuri Chaika thanked Merab Chigoev for maintaining close working relations with the competent law enforcement authorities of the two countries and to development the Agreement signed between the two agencies, advocated the need for further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The parties signed a program of cooperation between the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor of the Republic of South Ossetia for 2013 - 2014. This document is aimed at enhancing and improving interagency cooperation in combating transnational crime.
In conclusion, the Russian Prosecutor General assured the South Ossetian colleagues in deepening and expansion of the Russian-South Ossetian relations.
In turn, Merab Chigoev thanked Yuri Chaika for the warm welcome, constructive cooperation and assistance to the Prosecutor's Office of South Ossetia. He also noted the role of Russia in recognizing the independence of South Ossetia as well as the assistance provided by the Russian government.
The parties also discussed the current issues related to the provision of law enforcement interaction in the two countries.
