For a number of years, Ossetia has been trying to convey to the international community that the accusations of Georgia against the Russian Federation in the “occupation” of the states recognized by it in 2008 are not substantiated except for the ideological and propaganda cover of Georgia’s unsuccessful military aggression against the peoples of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, said the Foreign Ministry of South Ossetia on Monday.

RT commented on the call of the Political Affairs and Security Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to Russia to withdraw recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Russia as a sovereign state can recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, this is our right, which directly follows from the UN Charter. For us, this story is over, we made our decision, ”said Klimov.

The Russian delegation does not recognize the adopted declaration of the OSCE PA and does not consider it a binding document for execution, said member of the Russian delegation in the assembly, State Duma deputy Nikolai Ryzhak at the plenary session of the OSCE PA on Monday.

The final declaration included a number of anti-Russian provisions: on the non-recognition of Crimea by part of the Russian Federation, the call for Moscow to refuse recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as criticism of the Nord Stream 2 project.
