On 8 September, 2006 around 11:30 near village Tbet, Tskhinavli region of the Republic of South Ossetia, part of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone, personnel of the Ministry of Interior of Georgia that penetrated into the conflict zone from village Nikozi carried out an armed attack on the check-point of the Ministry of Interior. As a result of crossfire were killed three policemen: Akhmuraz Jioev, Anzor Kabisov and Gamlet Jabiev. Each of the murdered had a control shot in a head.
One of the attackers was killed and two were wounded, the others escaped on the vehicle of the Ministry of Interior of South Ossetia.
The spot was visited by the JPKF and the OSCE Mission observers.
Despite the fact that the Georgian side is in a hurry to characterize this incident as criminal, there are reasons to believe that the leadership of Georgia attempts to carry out a large-scale destabilization in South Ossetia.
There are no doubts in South Ossetia that the incident was planned in advance. This is also confirmed by the fact that this morning was noticed concentration of heave military equipment close to the borders of South Ossetia and deployment of additional subdivisions of the Ministry of Interior of Georgia.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia is observing extreme escalation in the conflict zone, leading to active military activities, again appeals to all the participants and mediators of the negotiation process, to all the sides interested in peaceful resolution of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict to avoid dangerous development of the situation.
