As it had been reported, after a six-month energy blockade of South Ossetia by Georgia since the armed aggression against South Ossetia in August 2008, on 23 January 2009, natural gas supply from the Russian Federation through Georgia had been resumed.
Undoubtedly, this is the result of active efforts made by the Russian Federation, its Foreign Ministry repeatedly drawing attention to unacceptability of energy blockade of the Republic of South Ossetia practiced by Georgia in winter months with South Ossetia"s social and economic infrastructure destroyed by Georgian armed forces.
We deem it necessary to emphasize the constructive position of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and the positive results of its Personal Representative"s visit to South Ossetia on 13 January 2009.
