Эльбрус КаргиевThe Russian side does not exclude a possibility of future provocations by Georgia linked with the NATO exercise there. The RF Ambassador Extraordinary in South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev reported this to RES Agency.
“The state which committed aggression against South Ossetia last August is today hosting the NATO exercise that implies support to the current aggressive regime in Georgia. NATO exercise usually teach how to defend, while Georgia learns its attack’s lessons,” stated Kargiev.

According to Kargiev, Russia does not exclude new provocations, “but it does exclude the risks of repeated August events. In case of attempted aggression, the consequences for Georgia would be fatal. Georgia had already felt the consequences of the August 2008 events – Russia’s recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia”.
Ambassador expressed his hope that the ruling regime in Georgia would come to its senses and would not allow any steps which were taken last year.
The whole perimeter of South Ossetia is under solid protection of birder-guards of the Russian Federation and South Ossetia. That is why we are calm and ready to rebuff any provocations to diminish risks of a full-scale aggression, the probability of which we exclude. Otherwise, it would be an insanity of the Georgian authorities”, underscored Kargiev.
