The RSO President Eduard Kokoity cast his vote at polling station №10 in School №5 where the memorial cemetery of victims of Georgian aggression is located.
Having voted, the President talked to journalists and answered their questions.
Eduard Kokoity stated that “this is an important event, since this is the first election in the recognized state. Today, the election is another test of maturity and sustainability of our democracy. This is a big holiday for the people of the Republic of South Ossetia”.
“We are absolutely sure that the first parliament made an absolutely right decision and voted for independence of our state on 29 May 1992. I hope that the new Parliament will continue in the same direction. I have no doubts that today’s election will be complete. By 10 a.m., the attendance was high at all polling stations”, underlined the president.
Despite the ruins in South Ossetia after the Georgian aggression and the attempts to put pressure on the South Ossetian population, especially in Leningor district, where the Georgian authorities threatened with f ours”.
Eduard Kokoity also stated that “South Ossetia will be strengthening relations with the Russian Federation.” I would like to express our gratitude to Russia for having this possibility to conduct election. We are casting our votes for independent South Ossetia”, he said.
