Eduard Kokoity met with the personnel of the Ossetian peacekeeping contingent

President of the Republic of South Ossetia met with the personnel of the dismissed Ossetian peacekeeping contingent, which used to be part of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPKF). The peacekeepers addressed President with a request to facilitate the settlement of the problem with salary debts the amount of which had reached 80 million rubles. Eduard Kokoity promised to discuss this issue with the authorities of North Ossetia, responsible for funding the Ossetian peacekeeping battalion before the JPKF were dismissed, and also to raise the issue of funds allocation for the Ossetian peacekeepers at the Security Council in Moscow.

The meeting with the peacekeepers was attended by the RF Deputy Minister for Economic Development Roman Panov invited by RSO President. Eduard Kokoity addressed him to assist as much as possible with the solution of the problem with dismissed military personnel. Panov has suggested sending an official address to him in order to look scrutinize the problem at the Security Council of the RF.
In the conclusion of the meeting, Eduard Kokoity touched upon other problem of the dismissed peacekeepers. “After we had officially announced our dismissal, many of you continued fulfilling duties, and we already raised the issue with providing you with jobs. We have discussed it with the Command of the RF and SO Border-Guards. You have earlier served within the RF structure and many of you should now go through tests in order to provide some of you with jobs in Russian Border-Guard Service. A part of you will be offered with positions in other power structures of South Ossetia”, said Kokoity.
