There will be no census in South Ossetia 2010, told the Head of the State Statistics of RSO Eric Pukhaev.
"Rehabilitation works are currently ongoing in South Ossetia, many houses are under construction, which excludes the possibility to carry out a census of the residents," said Pukhaev.
In addition, as noted by the Head of the Statistical Agency, a census implies certain expenditures.
"Due to the fact that the state funds are primarily directed at the restoration and the construction of housing in the country, it is impractical, or even inhumane, to conduct a census among the people, many of whom do not live in their homes," said the Head of the Agency.

According to Eric Pukhaev, a census involves not only the identification of the number of population in the Republic, it also focuses on the state of the people's housing.
"The census should provide us with as much information about the Republic as possible. The questionnaire contains a lot of question related to housing, employment, education of residents, health, etc. In total, there are over 50 questions ", said Pukhaev.
It is worth reminding that in 2009 the Parliament of South Ossetia adopted the first law of South Ossetia on the census. According to the 1989 census, 99 thousand people inhabited South Ossetia.
