Ambassador of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation Dmitry Medoev does not exclude his participation in the presidential election of South Ossetia on March 25 as one of the candidates.
According to him, he arrived in Tskhinval and held a series of consultations with representatives of various political parties and public organizations.
"I have had several meetings and consultations with my colleagues, combat friends. Based on their results, I can definitely say that if the action group is formed and if it addresses to me with a proposal to be nominated for President of the Republic of South Ossetia, I`ll give my consent "- the diplomat said on Monday. The Central Election Committee of South Ossetia confirmed that it had received a relevant notification. "The Central Election Committee has received notice that on February7 at 12:00 the meeting of the action group, nominating a presidential candidate Medoev, will be held the in the building of the Scientific Research Institute. According to the Chairman of the CEC Bella Plieva, members of the CEC have been invited to participate in the meeting. Since 2008 Dmitry Medoev is an ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation. Before that time, he was Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation. Earlier, he had held the post of Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic.
Re-election of the president of South Ossetia is scheduled for March 25, 2012.
