Just setting the global geopolitical goals one can talk about the safe and progressive advance of Ossetia. This was stated by the head of the Caucasus Studies Sector of the Russian Institute of Strategic Researches Jana Amelina at a political science conference in Tskhinval.

According to her, such a goal for South Ossetia could be the return of the detached territories – the Trusov gorge and the Kob hollow, which are now the part of Georgia.
"Over the past five years since August 2008, we have not heard the words of repentance from the Georgian authorities, people, society and the church. Certain statements are made only by some marginal individuals who are not related to politics, "- said Amelina.
According to the expert, the Georgian society today is consolidated in the opinion that South Ossetia and Abkhazia are the "occupied territories" and they should be returned, and for the last five years since August 2008 nothing has changed the opinion of the authorities and the people of Georgia in this regard.
"There is no reason to believe that the new government of Georgia will change the position in this regard. Therefore, Georgia still poses a great danger to South Ossetia, Abkhazia and to the whole Caucasus region. Georgia has not learned a lesson from the past, and this position will have a fall, "- said Amelina.
According to the expert, the situation may be improved by returning the Ossetian territories, included in Georgia in the Soviet period.
"This is quite a real and important task for Ossetia", - said Amelina.
She focused on the fact that the August events had not been covered completely and objectively in the Russian media.
"This is not a coincidence. To be published in some media is controlled and directed by the Georgian lobby, which use ample possibilities to achieve their goals, promoting in some Russian corridors of power an idea of forming the Confederation of Georgia and South Ossetia, "- said the expert.
The activities of the Georgian lobby would not represent much of a threat to South Ossetia, if the Republic had an independent stance in foreign policy.
The expert`s view on the return of the territories detached from Ossetia was supported by the majority of the participants.
