The South Ossetian arm wrestlers performed brilliantly at the Russian championship, which allowed them to qualify for the world championship in Bulgaria in September, the athletes' coach Valery Dzhioev told IA Res.
The competition was being held in Orel from March 16 to 21 and brought together more than 700 participants from 55 regions of Russia.
"Among the young men, Dmitry Gabaraev rose to the top step of the podium, and David Pashchenko became the silver medalist," Dzhioev said.
He has added that among the juniors, Vadim Kozaev took third place, among the youth, the highest award was won by Rodion Dzhioev, and Stella Dzigoeva won the silver medal.
"Rodion Dzhioev and Dmitry Gabaraev did not suffer a single defeat, winning all their fights with both hands. And David Pashchenko injured his left hand during the fight, but did not give up, continued the fight and confidently took second place," the coach has shared.
According to Dzhioev, the athletes will now actively begin preparing for the World Championship in Bulgaria, paying special attention to training.
The athletes are training under the guidance of Valery Dzhioev and Arsen Khabalov.
