The Donetsk People's Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia intend to establish interstate cooperation in the military and banking spheres. This was stated by the head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko.
According to him, at this stage, the development of relevant interstate documents is underway.
Zakharchenko has noted that during the recent visit of the President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov to Donetsk, the South Ossetian delegation has also included the Defense Minister of the RSO Ibrahim Gasseev.
"We have worked out a number of documents on cooperation in the military and banking spheres," he said.
Packages of documents in the near future will be sent to the People's Council of the People's Democratic Republic for signing.
The Donetsk People's Republic, as well as the Luhansk People's Republic, announced their sovereignty in 2014. Kiev did not recognize the independence of the two republics and in April 2014 began a military operation against them.
The independence of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic was recognized by South Ossetia in 2014. To date, South Ossetia remains the only country to recognize the independence of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic. In 2017, the Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Assistance was signed between the RSO and the Donetsk People's Republic.
