Belgian journalist Mush Benoit intends to shoot a documentary about South Ossetia. The Belgian, who came to the press tour as part of a delegation of journalists, spoke about this at a briefing in Tskhinval.
“We have already visited Donetsk and would like to see what the situation is in South Ossetia, what kind of relations the Republic has with other states after the military actions in 2008,” he said.
According to Benoit, after his first visit to South Ossetia, he wrote a report in which he described in detail all the hostilities in South Ossetia.
“I submitted this report, but, unfortunately, our media completely ignored it. I myself was shocked by the events that took place on August 8,” he complained.
The journalist has noted that so many years after the war, people in South Ossetia became calmer.
“I drew attention to the fact that people in South Ossetia have become calmer, they feel protected, people themselves make contact with the media and talk about military events, and it's nice to see,” Benoit said.
Benoit has emphasized that the goal of making his films is to tell the Europeans the truth.
“The goal I pursue in my films is the desire to tell the truth so that people who live abroad know the truth, not the lie,” he explained.
According to the Belgian, family is an important support for him.
“My whole family, my friends support me, they always watch my films, support the fact that I only show the truth in them. I want to note that my films are always in special demand in Russia, because they know about the facts there. And in Europe they don’t react at all, therefore, the family support is very important for me, ”the journalist emphasized.
According to Benoit, South Ossetia has great potential, because the people here are very kind and comfortable, but, according to him, it is still difficult to imagine Europe tourists in South Ossetia, because there is an information blockade that affects Europeans. According to the journalist, in the future, tourists from Europe will still come and feel comfortable here.
Benoit himself writes music for his films, he noted that for the film about South Ossetia he will choose a melody that will reflect not only the tragedy - he wants to convey through this music all the kindness of the people living in South Ossetia.
The journalist is going to stay in South Ossetia, and during this time he will visit the districts of the Republic, construction sites to capture how the Republic is developing. The Belgian also intends to attend commemorative events dedicated to the next anniversary of the beginning of the war of Georgia against South Ossetia, to communicate with the population, as well as to do an interview with the President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov.
