The mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Ossetia, together with the authorities of the Republic and the public organization “Hope and Memory”, has been constantly working to clarify the fate of the missing citizens , said at a briefing in Tskhinval the head of the department for protection of civilians of the representative office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Republic Rustam Alizade.

“The International Committee of the Red Cross is a neutral international organization that works in the countries where there is armed conflict or other cases of violence in order to promote the rights of civilians. We have been working in South Ossetia for several years. As for the work on the missing persons, it is quite complicated and takes a lot of time,” Alizadeh said.

He has noted that there are also difficulties in finding and identifying the burial places of missing persons, as well as to establish contacts with the families of some of them.
