Border guards of South Ossetia recorded the use of a helicopter by the Georgian side in close proximity to the state border. As reported to "RES" by the press service of the KGB of South Ossetia, the aircraft was seen by border guards on May 28 at 9 am at the borders of the Leningor district of the Republic.
"The aircraft moved over Georgian territory at a slight distance from the state border (about 4 km) and probably conducted aerial reconnaissance of the border settlements of the Republic. Of particular concern is the fact that neither the Georgian side nor the EU Observer Mission in Georgia notified authorities of the Republic on the planned use of aviation, which creates the preconditions for escalating the situation and is another manifestation of the irresponsible attitude of the Tbilisi regime to regional security issues, as well as the problems of post-conflict settlement of relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia, "the KGB said.
Such actions are regarded by the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia as another proof of Georgia’s destructive position regarding de-escalation of tension on the state border line, as well as the low efficiency of the European Union monitoring mission.
