The government of South Ossetia on Tuesday adopted a new resolution providing for the extension of the state border crossing procedure until 23.59 minutesю July 31, 2020. Previously, the ban on crossing the state border through the checkpoint "Ruck" was valid until June 30.
Earlier at a meeting of the operational headquarters, it was noted that all the measures taken were due to the difficult situation in the neighboring Republic. According to the chief sanitary doctor Marina Kochieva, the operational headquarters decided to extend some quarantine measures until the end of July. "In North Ossetia, and in many regions of Russia, the situation is still unstable, and in connection with the prevention of the entry of coronavirus into the territory of South Ossetia, I propose to extend the closure of the border," Kochieva said.
She has added that it was thanks to timely quarantine measures that South Ossetia had a positive result in preventing the coronavirus.
The government meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Eric Pukhaev, who emphasized that the corresponding decision was made taking into account the prevention of the penetration of a new virus into the Republic, "our citizens should treat this with understanding, since all measures are taken exclusively to preserve their health."
The Cabinet of Ministers unanimously adopted a decision.
The measures taken do not apply to citizens of South Ossetia returning to the Republic according to a specially developed schedule through the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of official delegations, employees of diplomatic missions, Russian military personnel, citizens traveling in connection with the death of a close relative, people sent by the Ministry of Health to receive high-tech medical assistance, as well as for drivers of vehicles involved by the government to provide the Republic with food and essential goods, medicines, construction and other goods.
