Russian boxer Murat Gassiev knocked out Albanian Nuri Seferi in the first round of the main fight of the evening in Sochi. For the 27-year-old Russian, this is his debut fight in the heavyweight division.

Gassiev now has 27 wins and 20 knockouts in the professional ring with one defeat. Seferi, 43, lost for the 10th time with 41 wins (23 KOs).

The last time Murat Gassiev entered the ring was in July 2018 - then the Russian lost by unanimous decision to the Ukrainian Alexander Usik in the final of the World Boxing Super Series tournament.

A shoulder injury, with which he also went out to fight with Usyk, prevented Gassiev from meeting Artur Beterbiev and Joey Daveyko in 2019 — fights were scheduled and postponed a total of four times, and eventually canceled.
