The number of detected cases of coronavirus in South Ossetia has increase by 9 over the weekend, the head of the South Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee Marina Kochieva said on Monday.

"In the PCR laboratory, 42 tests have been carried out. 9 cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected. In total, during the epidemic, the coronavirus was confirmed in 3355 citizens, of which 3332 recovered," the chief sanitary doctor said.

23 people are being treated under medical supervision in inpatient and outpatient conditions.

"There are 10 patients in the infectious diseases ward of the Medical Center," she said.

In South Ossetia, the Russian "Sputnik V" is being vaccinated, and those who wish can get vaccinated free of charge at the Tskhinval Medical Center.

Marina Kochieva said that their department had recorded a repeated case of coronavirus infection and appealed to the residents of the Republic to get vaccinated.

"Now is the time when there is a risk of re-infection of those citizens who have had coronavirus last fall and no longer have antibodies. We recommend that our citizens get vaccinated, because the consequences of the disease can be much worse. Those people who did not get sick, let go to the clinic, "- said Kochieva.
