Relations between South Ossetia and Russia are of a special nature: Putin to Gagloev

The meeting of Presidents of South Ossetia and Russia, Alan Gagloev and Vladimir Putin took place in Moscow.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Russian state noted the contribution of the Ossetian people to achieving Victory.

According to Putin, despite their small number, the Ossetians have the highest number of Heroes of the Soviet Union per capita.

“More than 22 thousand of your citizens were fighting on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War,” Putin said to Gagloev

Alan Gagloev thanked Vladimir Putin for the invitation to the ceremonial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory and expressed words of gratitude to the Russian President on behalf of the people of South Ossetia and on his own behalf for the support and attention shown to the restoration of military memorials to the heroes of Ossetia.

The leaders of the two states discussed the most important areas of cooperation, prospects for increasing support in socio-economic sphere.

Vladimir Putin has noted that the relations between South Ossetia and Russia are of a special nature.

The Russian President noted the systematic development of relations with South Ossetia in all key areas, including the growth of trade turnover between the countries and the implementation of the investment projects.

Gagloev and Putin discussed the foundations of the Russian-South Ossetian relations and areas of cooperation.

The South Ossetian President identified the low throughput at the Lower Zaramag checkpoint and the difficulties created for the population with long waits at the border as one of the most socially complex problems.
