South Ossetian cadets of the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelov will take part in the international stages of the Airborne Platoon, Marine Assault and Tactical Shooter competitions of the International Army Games - 2021.
According to the press service of the Defense Ministry, the South Ossetian servicemen in these competitions are not among the teams at full strength.
The landing platoon will be held at the Dubrovichi training ground of the Tula Guards Airborne Force in the Ryazan Region from August 22 to September 2. As one of the participants of the South Ossetian team, cadet Roman Gigolaev, has noted, at this stage, preparations are being made for the performance.
“During the competition, it is planned to parachute jumping with access to the gathering point, march on rough terrain 10 km, biathlon as part of the squad, overcoming the obstacle course with the identification of the best team. We will compete with an incomplete team with such countries as Kyrgyzstan, Abkhazia, Brazil, Congo and others,” he said.
“In general, our squad has a high fighting spirit and is focused only on victory,” added Gigolaev.
The “Airborne Platoon” field training competition among the airborne units is held within the framework of the International Army Games for the seventh time. In total, about 450 military personnel from 18 countries will take part in the competition as part of the national army teams.
The Marine Assault Competition, a competition for the Marine Corps, also starts on August 22nd and will be held at two training grounds for the Pacific Fleet Marine Corps. The representative of the South Ossetian team – a cadet Artur Kokoev has said that the group consists of 5 people.
“We are already at the place of the competition in Vladivostok, we are preparing and intend to show a good result,” he said.
The competition will be attended by teams from Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Within the framework of the competition, the participants will go through 3 stages of the competition, including the "Obstacle Course", "Survival Trail" and "Relay".
Another competition of the International Army Games - 2021 "Tactical Shooter", in which servicemen compete in army tactical shooting, will be held at the Seltsy training ground of the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelov.
According to the representative of the South Ossetian team, a cadet Marat Tedeev, at this stage, preparations are underway for the competition - familiarization with the competition program, practical training in shooting under the guidance of instructors.
