Representatives of the South Ossetian Parliament as international observers will leave for Moscow on September 15 for the State Duma elections; a single voting day in Russia will be held from September 17 to 19.

On the invitation of the State Duma, the elections in Moscow will be observed by the first Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Peter Gassiev, and the Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Taxes, Elena Dzhioeva.

“The Russian party invites us every time as observers to the State Duma elections. I am sure that the people will make the right choice, and we, in turn, will do our job as international observers,” Gassiev told the “Res” news agency.

The State Duma is elected for a five-year term under a mixed electoral system: 225 deputies are elected from party lists, another 225 - from single-mandate districts in one round.

Polling stations for the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation will also be opened in South Ossetia on September 17, 18, 19 - for citizens of the Russian Federation residing or temporarily staying in the Republic. During these three days, nine polling stations will be opened on the territory of South Ossetia.
