The international scientific-practical conference on the history of the Russian-South Ossetian relations and issues of national identity was held at the South Ossetian State University (SOGU).
According to the press service of the university, the conference was attended by representatives of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (CCEMI NRU HSE), Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University).
“On behalf of the head of the South Ossetian university, the assistant to the rector Lana Gagloeva, who acted as a moderator from South Ossetian State University, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech to the participants of the event.
The event was also co-hosted by a professor at the Higher School of Economics, head of a joint RFBR grant Marina Glaser, professor, head of the Department of Philosophy, N.E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Vitaly Ivlev.
The parties noted the high level of development of the Russian-South Ossetian relations, and also focused on the problems of national identity,” the press service said.
The interlocutor of the agency noted that the reports at the conference from the South Ossetian side were made by the Candidate of Philology, Professor, head of the department of the Ossetian language and general linguistics of the South Ossetian State University Yuri Dzitssoity ("The most important milestones in the modern history of South Ossetia"), Candidate of History, Associate Professor of the department of history of Ossetia and Caucasian Studies at the South Ossetian State University Robert Kulumbegov ("South Ossetia: 13 Years of Peace and Creation"), Candidate of Politics, Professor of the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the South Ossetian State University Inal Sanakoev ("The Phenomenon of Political Ethnicity (On the example of South Ossetia) "), Senior Lecturer at the Department of Politics and Sociology at the South Ossetian State University Lina Kulumbegova (“The problem of national identity as a factor in the emergence of unrecognized states in the post-Soviet space”).
“There were also presented reports of Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Head of the Department of Social Philosophy of the RUDN University Marina Ivleva, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Philosophy of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Vladimir Inozemtsev, Candidate of History, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of the RUDN University Elena Savicheva,” the press service stressed.
They added that the work of the conference was fruitful, after the reports presented, a discussion took place, the participants discussed thematic issues.
