The participants in the two-day 55th round of the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia again failed to come to concrete results. The parties only spoke in favor of continuing joint efforts to find the ways to strengthen stability and security in the South Caucasus, and agreed to hold the next round on March 29-30, 2022.

NATO's activities in Transcaucasia make the security situation in the region difficult. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko announced this to journalists during the 55th round of the Geneva Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia.

In Geneva, on December 7-8, negotiations on security and stability in Transcaucasia were held. According to the Russian media, after Georgia raised the issue of returning refugees to Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Russian delegation left the negotiations.

International discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia are held in Geneva since 2008 with the participation of Russia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and the United States through the mediation of the UN, EU and OSCE special envoys. Traditionally, the work is carried out in two working groups - on security and on humanitarian issues. The Geneva discussions remain the only platform for dialogue between Sukhum, Tskhinval and Tbilisi.
