Russian senators will be observing the elections in South Ossetia

Russian senators will take part in monitoring the second round of the presidential elections in South Ossetia, the press service of the Federation Council said on Thursday.

The voting will take place on May 8th.

"The delegation will be headed by Sergei Tsekov, member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs. The observers have also included Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Elena Bibikova and member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Crym Kazanokov," the message says.

The first round of presidential elections in South Ossetia took place on April 10. Two candidates are vying for the presidency - the current President of the Republic, Anatoly Bibilov, and the leader of the opposition Nykhas party, Alan Gagloev.
