There is a small gap in the Abkhaz-Ossetian relations that needs to be filled, Maxim Gvindzhia, Assistant to the President of Abkhazia for international affairs, said during the Moscow-Tskhinval-Sukhum teleconference dedicated to the Concept of the Russian Federation's humanitarian policy abroad.

In his opinion, there is a space in relations between Abkhazia and South Ossetia that is not filled with activity and projects.

“It is necessary to improve, strengthen and develop this space. Fortunately, Russia has accepted this concept, thanks to which the Russian Federation has become a unifying factor for our republics,” Gvindzhia said.

He believes that there are opportunities for interaction and it is necessary to deal with this.

“I would like more exchange of students, if we talk only about the Abkhaz-Ossetian relations. I would like to see the South Ossetian stage, products. Ossetian pies are very popular in Abkhazia, but I would like more, more fruitful trade, cooperation. I know that our South Ossetian brothers are working in this direction. Yes, we have a certain trade turnover, and it is growing, but, of course, not as much as we would like. I am in favor of growing cooperation,” the speaker from Abkhazia emphasized.

The development of relations between certain countries should not cause concern.

“First of all, this concerns the development of relations between Russia and Georgia, which also affects us. We are for these relations to be developing, and for the era of friendship to finally come between the Russian and Georgian peoples and the absence of groundless threats and claims from Georgia, for the world to grow rich from the exchange of cultures,” Gvindzhia said.

On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the Concept of Russia's Humanitarian Policy Abroad. The document says that the priority of Russia's humanitarian policy abroad will be to expand cooperation with the countries of the CIS, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, the DPR and the LPR.
