On Thursday the next meeting in the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) format is being held on the border of South Ossetia and Georgia.

As Egor Kochiev, head of the South Ossetian delegation to the IPRM, told the “Res” news agency, the main issue that the South Ossetian party has been raising for several years now is the removal of the illegal Georgian police post from the territory of South Ossetia, set up at the end of August 2019.

“Security and humanitarian issues will also be raised during the meeting, as well as the overview of the general situation in the region will be made,” the head of the South Ossetian delegation has emphasized.

Kochiev has noted that the meeting in the IPRM format is divided into two parts; the first part is .dedicated to the problematic issues of supplying irrigation water to the Tsinagar zone of the Leningor district for irrigating agricultural land. The question is raised annually during the watering season. Water comes there from the Tiripon Canal, which crosses the South Ossetian-Georgian border in several places.

The IPRM format is designed to consider the issues related to security on the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia. In addition, the "hot line" is actively working, and in the event of an incident, the parties contact their colleagues.

Meetings in the IPRM format are held within the framework of the Geneva discussions on security in the Caucasus. The dialogue is attended by representatives of South Ossetia, Russia, Georgia, the European Union and the OSCE.
