South Ossetia reaffirms the unchanged course of strengthening friendly relations with the Russian Federation, which is the guarantor of peace and security, the Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted, commenting on the statements of the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garabishvili at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly taking place in New York.
“Garibashvili unequivocally noted, addressing the “Abkhaz and Ossetian brothers and sisters” that “the enemy of our unity is our common enemy,” and also once again touched upon the topic of “occupation of Georgia.” We regret to say that the Georgian authorities cannot get rid of your “phantom pains” and accept the geopolitical realities that have emerged in the region after August 2008,” says a message published on the official website of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry.
According to the Ministry, the Ossetian people, having experienced Georgia’s “peace-loving” attitude more than once, perfectly understands the true meaning and value of such words.
