Young people from South Ossetia, consisting of about 150 people, will take part in the World Youth Festival in Sochi. Diana Dzhussoeva, chief specialist in organization, planning and implementation of the Committee on Youth Policy and Sports, reported this to the “Res ” news agency.
According to her, more than 360 people from 18 to 35 years old are registered on the official website of the festival from South Ossetia. Later, a delegation will be formed from among those registered to participate in the forum.
“A national preparatory committee was specially formed under the youth committee, which deals with the issue of selecting participants. Up to 200 people came to the interview stage. Participants are selected based on the results of interviews and assignments by the festival management. The festival management gives points, notes who stood out, and we, in turn, also look at these guys and collectively make a list,” Dzhussoeva said.
She has also noted that the festival has a children's program, in which about 80 children from 14 to 17 years old also registered from South Ossetia. Their candidacies, according to her, are approved exclusively by the festival management based on the results of the competitive selection.
“In general, the selection for the festival has not yet been completed. As soon as we learn the results from the festival management, we will draw up an overall picture and gather a delegation of 150 people,” she has added.
Dzhussoeva emphasized that initially 120 quotas were allocated to South Ossetia, but thanks to the coordinated interaction of the committee’s leadership with Rosmolodezh and the festival’s management, the number of quotas was increased to 150.
The World Youth Festival will be held on the territory of the Sirius educational center in Sochi from March 1 to March 7.
The festival will bring together progressive young people from more than 180 countries. Participants will enjoy a rich cultural, educational and business program.
