The Soviet people gave millions of lives for the great victory, and South Ossetia was close to the fraternal people during the Great Patriotic War, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov said at the gala reception of the Embassy on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The traditional gala reception of the Russian Embassy in the Republic was held in the capital of South Ossetia on Thursday. It was attended by the leadership of the Republic led by President Alan Gagloev, ex-President Leonid Tibilov, Prime Minister Konstantin Dzhussoev, Speaker of Parliament Alan Alborov, representatives of the Embassy, Russian compatriots, etc.
“79 years have passed since the day when fireworks were fired at the end of the bloodiest war of the 20th century. There was no such house that this war would bypass. On this day, we always pay tribute to the courageous generation who were forging this victory on the battlefields and in the rear,” Kulakhmetov said.
He has emphasized that it is everyone’s duty to remember by name those who brought this great victory.
“We must remember this legendary generation, honor them, know them by name and pass on their names and exploits from generation to generation. This is our duty. Especially now, when the united West is trying to deprive Russia of its right to exist and its legendary history, the victory in the Second World War. This is our victory, and no one will take it away ,” the Ambassador emphasized and congratulated everyone on the holiday.
President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev has also emphasized that no one has the right to forget the heroism demonstrated in the Great Patriotic War.
“We are obliged to remember and honor all those soldiers who gave their lives and showed examples of heroism in the Second World War. Today, those peoples and countries that have remained faithful to our common history, together with us, are once again defending our common victory. They don’t allow the fascists to rewrite history, change concepts, and together with us they give their lives so that our future generations move forward and prosper,” the President said.
Gagloev has noted that people of South Ossetia will never overstep the choice of their ancestors, emphasizing that today the Republic is once again showing unity with Russia, building a common future.
“We are all confident that another victory will be ours again,” the head of state added and congratulated everyone present on the Great Victory Day.
