South Ossetia and the Ulyanovsk Region agreed to cooperate in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres

The cooperation agreement in trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian fields was signed between the governments of South Ossetia and the Ulyanovsk Region.

For the South Ossetian part, the document on the sidelines of SPIEF - 2024 was signed by Chairman of the Government Konstantin Dzhussoev, for the Russian part – by Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region Alexey Russkikh.

According to the press service of the South Ossetian Cabinet of Ministers, the parties expressed their readiness to interact in the field of healthcare, culture, sports, tourism, industry, in the field of investment activities, the development of scientific, technical and partnership relations between educational organizations.

“Developing external relations and establishing business partnerships is one of the most important tasks of the government, contributing to the development of the republic’s own potential, growth of economic indicators, and improvement of the investment attractiveness of South Ossetia. We expect to implement mutually beneficial projects together with the government of the Ulyanovsk Region in the fields of agriculture, tourism, industry, and plan active cultural and educational exchange. This will take our friendly relations to a new level and enrich the culture of our regions,” Konstantin Dzhussoev was quoted by the press service.

The head of government said that the next step would be the creation of a joint working group that would develop a roadmap for the implementation of the bilateral agreement.

The cooperation agreement with the Ulyanovsk region was signed in accordance with the provisions of the agreement on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation dated September 17, 2008 and the agreement on alliance and integration between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation dated March 18, 2015 in order to develop comprehensive cooperation with the regions of Russia.

The key sectors of the economy of the Ulyanovsk Region are mechanical engineering and metalworking, food industry, electric power industry, construction materials industry, and light industry. The Region is also one of the largest transport hubs in Russia.
