The KGB of South Ossetia reported on its work for the first half of the year

In the first half of 2024, 148 violators of the established legal regimes were detained at various sections of the state border of South Ossetia. Of these, 80 are violators of the state border regime, 68 are violators of the border regime, the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.

As noted by the department, the KGB border service conducted investigations into each fact of violation.

“As a result, 80 people were subjected to an administrative fine, four people were expelled from the Republic of South Ossetia with penalties, six people were subject to administrative expulsion from the Republic without penalties, 45 people were warned, criminal cases were initiated against 11 people, proceedings in one administrative case were terminated, the investigation is underway against one person,” the KGB has noted.

The Border Service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia drew the attention of citizens and guests of the Republic, as well as tourist groups planning their trips to recreation areas located within the border zone of the Republic of South Ossetia, about the need to have identification documents with them (passport, service ID, birth certificate for minors, and for foreign citizens - also passes to the border zone).

They also reminded the heads of district and rural administrations of South Ossetia that with the onset of the period of arable and other seasonal agricultural works in the areas located in the border zone of the Republic of South Ossetia, it is necessary to obtain permission for economic activities in advance.

To register them, citizens of the Republic must contact the Border Service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia at least three days before the start of the event.

Foreign citizens and organizations must attach an application for permission to an application or petition for obtaining individual or collective passes with the obligatory attachment of photocopies of passports with a registration stamp and the established list of documents.

The KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia warns that deliberate violation of the legal regimes established on the state border and border territory entails not only administrative, but also criminal liability.
