Former Presidents of South Ossetia Awarded Jubilee Medals

President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev held a meeting with the first and third presidents of the Republic Ludwig Chibirov and Leonid Tibilov on the Day of the 16th anniversary of the Day of Recognition of the Republic's Independence by the Russian Federation, the press service of the head of state reports.

Alan Gagloev congratulated his predecessors, who, according to him, made their invaluable contribution to the development of the statehood of South Ossetia.

"Today, the Republic is celebrating one of the main holidays - the Day of Recognition of the Independence of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation. 16 years have passed since that significant day, to which South Ossetia has made a hard and difficult path," he said.

In turn, the first President of the RSO Ludwig Chibirov has noted that this day is the brightest holiday for the Republic.

"This day, which was preceded by the war of 2008, is forever etched in memory as one of the happiest. We have been going towards this for a long time; we have traveled a difficult path. My deepest bow to Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev for such a fateful decision for us," he said.

Lyudwig Chibirov assured Alan Gagloev of his full support.

The third President of the Republic of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov, in turn, thanked Alan Gagloev for the invitation to meet on such a significant day.

"The Russian Federation 16 years ago determined the fate of the people and of South Ossetia as a whole. This is a significant day in our history. I wish our Republic prosperity and peace, and, as said by Ludwig Alekseevich, we are ready to provide you with full support," he said.

By presidential decree, Ludwig Chibirov and Leonid Tibilov were awarded jubilee medals "In Commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the People of South Ossetia.
